1. Design, keyboard, sound

Design

Toshiba Qosmio X500-size 4.43 x 2.95 x 41.5 mm, weighing 4.58 kg with 12 cell battery included. This model is made of plastic shell of the ball should be quite easy to stick when using fingerprints. However, the design is still sinking, the red rim around the Qosmio logo stand out, make a good impression with computer users first sight.

This model is equipped with almost all the connections, but with fairly wide area, it seems that in the next three USB ports and one USB / eSATA is a bit less for a machine system such as X500.

Right side of the machine is Kensington lock, power jack, VGA, two USB ports, headphone and microphone jacks. The left side is the LAN port, eSATA / USB combo, USB, HDMI, FireWire, Express Card slot, and Blu-ray optical drive. Meanwhile, front side only memory card reader / off switch and wireless connectivity are integrated.

Are replaced by the desktop so this model looks quite bulky and heavy but this is an understandable and "feel" for X500 directed to a different customer segment.

Keyboard and Touchpad.

Owned by screen size and large machines X500 spacious keyboard, plus the numeric keypad on the side for convenient text manipulation. The keyboard is designed for Toshiba characteristics of a good bounce and the distance the keys have a reasonable action should rarely be confused.

This model is equipped with multimedia keys on the left touch keyboard. The buttons are quite sensitive but in the process of always making the keyboard press the wrong key. In addition, tests during games, manipulating the sound off or increase or decrease the volume by the shortcut, the program was automatically ejected and was quite inconvenient.

X500 touchpad support for manipulating multi-point sensitivity and accuracy despite its tiny size. The mouse buttons below the same sensitivity, while pressing for definitive sense.

Sound.

Because laptops line replace desktops should be directed to entertainment X500 speaker system is equipped with "brand name" Harman / Kardon. Quality almost nothing to discuss with excellent sound, clear treble and bass are good to experiment with high-quality music files.

Only one thing is regrettable that the volume is not large as expected although much larger in comparison with other advanced laptops. This system enough to hear in the room over 30 m2.

2. Monitors and Performance

Monitors
Qosmio X500 is equipped with screen size 18.4 inch WXGA Standard resolution of 1680 x 945 pixel resolution Clear SuperView TFT technology. One thing is quite difficult to understand the price level and thus the computer screen is not the type of Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. However, this difference is not easy to identify with the naked eye while enjoying high-definition video.

Except weakness of resolution, the X500 is basically good for image quality, sharp brightness according to the manufacturer announced a 200 NIT. Machine with the ability to impress even better anti-glare outdoor use and excellent tilt angle with no color change but only a little bit better when the direction angle to the side.

Performance.

Qosmio X500 versions are equipped with test hardware, including Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6 GHz speed, Mobile Intel PM55 Express chipset, 4GB DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce graphics card with 1GB GTS 250m VRAM, 640 GB hard drive for speed 7200 rpm and Blu-Ray optical drive.

With hardware configurations as the machine gained 5.7 points (taken at low click rate because of the hard drive) when the dots with the system on Windows Experience Index Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) preinstalled the machine. On a scale of detail, the processor reaches 7 points, RAM is 7.3 points while the graphics capabilities for gaming and graphics together to reach 6.7 points.

Meanwhile, if you use the program to test points 3DMark06 graphics power, the Qosmio X500 achieved a truly impressive number is 7711 points, much higher than average level of replacement laptop computer desktop is 6202 points (average data taken from page Laptopmag). However, although still strong, but X500 "Welcome loser" of every other crisis as MSI GT725 (with 9859 points), FX Gateway P-7808u (with 10,019 points) and especially Alienware M17x (with 13,463 points).

Burnout Paradise game more stable at 50 frames per second. Screenshots.

When playing a game testing requirements as PES2010 average graphics, machine speeds stable at 60 frames per second with the highest level setting. Also required the game graphics are a bit more Burnout Paradise at default settings, the Qosmio X500 also achieved an average of more than 50 frames per second. As for the heavy games like Far Cry 2 at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels machines reach speeds of about 80 frames per second, higher than the average of 60 frames per second of the line desktop replacement laptop Other (average data taken from page Laptopmag).

3. Radiator and battery.

Radiator

Toshiba Qosmio X500 does not have heat vents in the side. Instead, the producers arranged face down all the machines. Therefore, the machine to heat up pretty fast when on a desk. However, because the alternative models to heat the underside of the table should not affect too many people to use. In addition, heat generated also in the acceptable level, except the game a long time need to arrange an additional heat sink base bottom.

Meanwhile, if using only normal to watching movies or listening to music, very difficult to feel the heat of the machine in hand on the keyboard and touchpad.

Battery

Toshiba Qosmio X500 is equipped with 12-cell battery included. When installed on your computer, battery and did not fit into the back or convex-down machine.

With high-capacity battery, but due to the big screen, discrete graphics using the computer rather should "eat" batteries. If you increase the screen brightness to maximum and watch videos continuously, the machine was running only about less than 2 hours. This level is higher than "Supper laptop" and Asus Alienware M17x W90Vp for use only for an hour.

If to the average brightness, keyboard backlight off, turn on Wi-Fi, listening to music and using normal office functions, the model for using time about 3 hours continuously.

However, with a machine to replace a desktop, the battery is still at quite so long battery life was never the focus of manufacturers for this laptop.
