Canções de Amor fala essencialmente de amor - a complexidade de amar sem possuir, o sentir desobrigado de ser. A perda e a idéia de continuar sem o objeto de seu amor. As canções que transportam o discurso do filme, nas bocas das personagens, suavizam a narrativa. Ismaël é um jovem de trinta anos. Vive em Paris com a namorada Julie. Trabalha todos os dias até tarde na redacção de um jornal sem tempo sequer para ir ao cinema com ela. Os dias passam, sempre iguais… Para apimentar as suas vidas, Julie convida Alice a partilhar a cama deles. Mas este equilíbrio vai ser perturbado por um acontecimento inesperado…

Julie's boyfriend Ismaël lives with her; rather than worry about the time he spends with his colleague Alice, Julie invites Alice to join them. The three walk the streets of Paris, party, read, and sleep together. Sometimes it's lighthearted, sometimes there are jealousies. Then death strikes. In various ways, those left come to terms with the departure and absence of a loved one: showing concern, eating together, attempting new relationships, trying to "be there" for the other. Then, the spirit returns and new commitments are possible. The romantic elements of musical comedy play in contrast to the ambivalence of the lyrics and the story.

Drama sobre um rapaz homossexual, Leo, que ao 20 anos descobre ser portador do vírus da Aids, e então sua família faz de tudo para esconder essa realidade do seu irmão mais novo, Marcel, de 11 anos. O menino fica curioso e percebe que a família está escondendo algo. Quando Leo decide tomar uma decisão muito importante, ele precisa revelar a Marcel toda a vedade.

When 21 year-old Leo, the oldest of four brothers, announces to his rural French family that he's HIV+ family bonds are tested. The family decides that 11 year Marcel, the youngest, is too young to understand and the family agrees to keep the unsettling news from him. Marcel overhears enough to understand that something amiss with Leo and when the two travel to Paris together, Marcel confronts Leo with what he suspects.
