Daniel é um jovem que vive em Londres com a mãe. Ele é um adolescente arrogante e completamente aborrecido. Um dia a avó, uma senhora judia, pede ao rapaz que ele viaje pela Europa a fim de encontrar o túmulo de seu avô. Na esperança de que aquilo pode lhe garantir alguma novidade na vida, Daniel acata o pedido. E ele não apenas consegue descobrir o local em que o avô foi enterrado, como também passa a entender profundamente as raízes de sua cultura judaica.
